Basic Emergency Management (BEM)

Target Audience

Municipal and provincial ministry emergency management staff and/or response organizations.

Prerequisites

None

Delivery

Classroom

Only authorized community and provincial trainers who have completed the Basic Emergency Management Instructor (BEM Instr) course may deliver the BEM.

Course Length

3 days

Description

This course is a pre-requisite for EMO and CEMC courses.

At the end of this course the participant will:

  • Be familiar with legislated and regulated emergency management programs in Ontario;
  • Be familiar with the five components of Emergency Management;
  • Be able to discuss personal preparedness.

The course can be customized to suit a community or Ministry's needs.

Ministry and Community

The community or Ministry determines their own requirement and conducts approximately 50 courses per year. Please contact your Ministry or Community Emergency Management Coordinator or the EMO Registrar for a list of current scheduled courses.
