Ontario Sex Offender Registry

Who Must Register?

Mandatory registration applies to residents of Ontario who:

  • have been convicted of a criteria sex offence (as defined by the legislation) in Canada and were:
    • serving a sentence on the day Christopher's Law was proclaimed, or
    • convicted of a sex offence on or after the legislation came into force;
  • have been found not criminally responsible for a criteria sex offence by reason of a mental disorder and given an absolute or conditional discharge on or after the legislation came into force; or
  • are young persons convicted of a criteria sex offence and receiving an adult sentence.
