Policing Services
Ontario Sex Offender Registry
Role of Local Police
Police services play an essential role in managing and maintaining the Ontario Sex Offender Registry in their communities.
They are responsible for:
- Establishing a registration site where offenders must report
- Registering offenders who report to that site by collecting and entering all the required information into the Ontario Sex Offender Registry database
- Enforcing Christopher’s Law (Ontario Sex Offender Registry 2000.)
All police services in Ontario have access to the Ontario Sex Offender Registry database 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week.
