Reporting Period

These people must register every year for 10 years:

• An offender who is convicted of a criteria sex offence that carries a maximum sentence of no more than 10 years.
  
• Anyone found not criminally responsible for a criteria sex offence because of a mental disorder and been released on an absolute or conditional discharge. The offence involved must carry a maximum sentence of no more than 10 years.

These people must register every year for the rest of their lives:

• An offender convicted of more than one criteria sex offence
• Anyone convicted of a criteria sex offence that carries a maximum sentence of more than 10 years.

Anyone released on an absolute or conditional discharge for a criteria sex offence, for which they were found not criminally responsible, where the offence carries a maximum sentence of more than 10 years.
