Safer and Vital Communities Grant

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services invites community groups to apply for the Safer and Vital Communities Grant for the 2012/13 fiscal year.

To follow up on the recent release of Crime Prevention in Ontario: A Framework for Action, the Ministry is seeking proposals that focus on addressing a specific crime issue through a multi-disciplinary approach. Community organizations that apply must partner with police and with other organizations in the education, health, government, or community sectors to undertake local crime prevention projects.

The grant program will provide up to $35,000 and the deadline for submitting an application is June 25, 2012. Due to the high volume of applications expected, late and/or incomplete applications will not be assessed. It is your responsibility to read the application instructions and submit a complete application with all of the relevant documents to the Ministry.

The Safer and Vital Communities Grant is open to:

• Community-based, not-for-profit incorporated organizations
• Community-based, not-for-profit organizations/groups sponsored by incorporated organizations
• Chiefs & Band Councils.
