  • crime prevention;
  • law enforcement;
  • victims’ assistance;
  • public order maintenance;
  • emergency response services, and;
  • infrastructure and administration necessary for providing adequate and effective police services.

The This link will exit this site and take you to the government of Ontario's e-laws Adequacy and Effectiveness of Police Services Regulation Web site.Adequacy and Effectiveness of Police Services Regulation, O.Reg. 3/99 (the Regulation) was proclaimed on January 8, 1999. It sets the standards for police service delivery throughout Ontario in the six areas identified under the PSA.

The Regulation also identifies the core functions and delivery requirements for police services, as well as policy requirements for police services' boards and the procedure and process requirements for Chiefs of Police.
