Agency Licensing Requirements

Stage 3

Fee Payment, Identification of Equipment and Uniforms

On completion of a successful application, applicants will be given sixty days to submit the following fees:

Class of Licence Agency Licence Individual Licence
Security Guard $700 $80
Private Investigator $700 $80
Dual Private Investigator and Security Guard $1,400 $160
  • a certificate of general liability insurance, including failure to perform coverage;
  • company policy/operational and training plan.

Please note: Corporate cheques will continue to be accepted as a form of payment.

In addition, security guard and dually licensed agencies must submit:

  • Photographs of all nature or style of company uniform and patrol vehicles. Included is all nature of equipment that has been authorized to be attached to, worn or otherwise carried with the vehicle or uniform. Equipment examples include, but are not limited to, firearms, batons, handcuffs, flashlights, belts, holsters, headgear and protective wear.

Photograph Standard:

  1. Photographs must be in colour, at least 3" x 5" (three inches by five inches) in size and are to depict a full three-quarter left side front profile of the vehicle or uniform, including all markings, writings, badges and decals.
  2. Additional profiles must be submitted in circumstances where markings, writings, badges, decals and equipment are not visible in the main profile photograph. Equipment that is not visually identifiable should be identified and described in an appendix to the photographs.
  3. Company promotional material that sufficiently depicts identification, uniform(s), equipment and vehicle(s) may be submitted in lieu of, or as a supplement to the required submission. Image size is not mandated for this material.

These requirements will be discussed in greater detail at the initial interview. Arrangements can be made to meet with you at the Registrars office or, if more convenient, at a location in or near your community.
