Becoming a Correctional Officer

Pre-Employment Training

Following the successful completion of the admission process, candidates will be offered enrolment in the Pre-Employment Training Program which is offered at a ministry training site.

Prior to attending the training, candidates will received registration material on the following:

  • tuition fees;
  • room and board costs (if applicable);
  • information on services available; and
  • rules and regulations of the training facility.

Candidates will also receive a home-study package which they must complete prior to attending the course.

All candidates are required to successfully complete a six-week training program in adult or young offender specialization to prepare them to enter the type of institution in which they wish to work.
