Future Milestones

Toronto South Detention Centre:

• March to July 2008 - Defining of specifications for Toronto South
• May to September 2008 - Environmental Assessment process, including further public consultation
• March / April 2009 - Award contract for construction
• Mid 2009 - Demolition / construction begins
• Mid 2012 - Phased-in occupancy
• End of 2012 - Toronto Jail decommissioning

While the Toronto Intermittent Centre will be part of and managed by the Toronto South Detention Centre, it is a separate building complex that will be constructed according to a separate schedule.

Toronto Intermittent Centre

• July 2008 - Release RFP for architectural services for TIC
• January 2009 - Construction begins
• Early 2010 - Phased-in occupancy
