Future Milestones
Toronto South Detention Centre:
- March to July 2008 - Defining of specifications for Toronto South
- May to September 2008 - Environmental Assessment process, including further public consultation
- March / April 2009 - Award contract for construction
- Mid 2009 - Demolition / construction begins
- Mid 2012 - Phased-in occupancy
- End of 2012 - Toronto Jail decommissioning
While the Toronto Intermittent Centre will be part of and managed by the Toronto South Detention Centre, it is a separate building complex that will be constructed according to a separate schedule.
Toronto Intermittent Centre
- July 2008 - Release RFP for architectural services for TIC
- January 2009 - Construction begins
- Early 2010 - Phased-in occupancy
