SAFER AND VITAL COMMUNITIES GRANTThe Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Safer and Vital Communities (SVC) Grant for the 2009/10 fiscal year. This year will focus on youth based crime prevention programs. It will enhance our joint efforts to create safer and stronger communities in Ontario by promoting personal and public safety through prevention, preparedness and social development. Police, government and communities will be encouraged to continue to work together to create strategies to address local issues and to reduce crime in Ontario. SVC can provide one-time funding of up to $20,000 to assist in the establishment of sustainable community crime prevention initiatives. If your organization would like to be considered for a grant, please submit your application and all requested supporting information by August 14, 2009, to Navdeep Sidhu, Community Safety Analyst, Program Development Section, External Relations Branch, Public Safety Division, Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, 25 Grosvenor Street, 12th Floor, Toronto ON M7A 2H3. The grant information package is available electronically and in hard copy format. The ministry encourages organizations to e-file (electronic filing) as these forms can be completed and readily sent back to the ministry. You must also forward an original signed copy to the ministry to ensure that your application is processed.
