In Canada, job opportunities are limited to key government crime laboratories at the RCMP, Laboratoire de Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légal in Quebec and the Centre of Forensic Sciences. Canadian graduates can also apply for positions in the United States or Commonwealth countries in both public and private laboratories. Yes. The attorney concerned would make the request to the CFS director in writing, demonstrating that the particular analysis cannot be done elsewhere and agreeing to accept CFS fee schedule. The decision to accept or reject civil cases rests with the director.
The CFS does not accept cases from the general public for civil or personal matters. The Centre conducts investigations for official investigative agencies in the Province of Ontario. If you have a matter that requires the services of the CFS contact your local coroner, a medical practitioner, a police officer or a lawyer.
No. Contrary to frequent media reports, the body is usually delivered to the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services, not to the Centre of Forensic Sciences.
