Technical Information Sheets

Technical Information Sheets (TIS) provide additional information to assist forensic investigators in understanding Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS) reports.

They:

  • Explain scientific terminology used in reports.
  • Provide a brief description of the technical procedures and methods used.
  • Provide general limitations on tests or methods used and explanations of the relevance of results.
  • Assist in understanding the particular area of forensic science involved.

Each one of the area listed below contain the TIS documents specific to that section.

Ces publications spécialisées sont destinées aux enquêteurs et déposants et ne sont disponibles qu'en anglais. Ces documents sont destinés à un groupe particulier et, en vertu du règlement 671/92, sont exempts de la traduction normalement exigée sous la Loi sur les services en français. Curriculum Vitae

Statements of qualifications for CFS scientists are available to the Ministry of the Attorney General, Criminal Law Division on CLD.net in the expert evidence section in the legal research and law area. Access is restricted to legal staff, including Crown attorneys.
