Ontario Regulation 108/18:  Amendments to the Fire Code for inspection and testing of fire department pumper connections for standpipe and hose systems

Bulletin #004/18

March 20, 2018

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM) is pleased to announce the filing of Ontario Regulation 108/18, a regulation made under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997, that comes into force on July 1, 2018, and amends the 2007 Fire Code (Ontario Regulation 213/07) with changes related to the checking, inspection, and testing of hose standpipe systems.

These amendments reflect expert advice received from a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) led by the OFMEM and comprised of key stakeholder groups.  The OFMEM gratefully acknowledges the assistance of the TAC in reviewing the proposed changes.

Proposed changes to the Fire Code were posted for public consultation on the Ontario Regulatory Registry in November 2017.  The OFMEM extends its appreciation to all stakeholders who provided feedback during the public consultation period.

Enquiries regarding the new regulation may be directed to the Technical Services Section of the OFMEM. Staff members may be reached by telephone at (647) 329-1100 or by e-mail at FireSafetyStandards@ontario.ca.
