Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council (FMPFSC) is a diverse group of organizations, associations and individuals working voluntarily to promote fire prevention and public fire safety education in Ontario. It is a corporation without share capital governed by the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997.
Making public fire safety education and prevention materials available to the fire service through its online catalogue and distribution centre is just one of the council's contributions to fire safety in Ontario. Distribution centre proceeds benefit Ontario fire service public education initiatives.
The Fire Marshal of Ontario chairs the council and appoints its members based on their interest, responsibility and expertise in fire safety as well as their abilities to influence and affect the level of fire safety in Ontario. Members are representatives of the fire service, industry and the public. The Office of the Fire Marshal provides technical and administrative assistance to the council.
