Public Consultation on the implementation of Technical Advisory Committee recommendations to enhance fire safety in occupancies housing seniors, people with disabilities and vulnerable Ontarians

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Office of the Fire Marshal is inviting public comment on the implementation of the Technical Advisory Committee’s recommendations to enhance fire safety in occupancies housing seniors, people with disabilities and vulnerable Ontarians. The consultation focuses on care and care and treatment occupancies that provide housing or other accommodation for seniors, people with disabilities and vulnerable Ontarians. These are occupancies where residents receive special or supervisory care because of cognitive or physical limitations, and where residents have specific needs during fire emergencies.

The recommendations of the Technical Advisory Committee build on our previous public consultation and support the government’s commitment to improve fire safety in occupancies housing seniors and vulnerable residents.

Comments must be submitted before the consultation period ends on February 28, 2013. Your participation is important and encouraged as feedback will help guide changes to the Fire Code and Building Code.
