Q1:

What advice is available from the OFM?

A1:

The OFM has issued a series of Guidelines on Municipal Fire Protection which outline procedures which can be used by a municipality to evaluate the fire safety needs in their community and the best method of addressing those needs. The guidelines are not intended to provide set answers but are intended to provide a method by which municipalities can develop their own solutions to their specific problems. Individuals may be available from the OFM to assist municipalities in interpreting or applying the guidelines or to discuss problems which are unique to a specific municipality. The OFM may also be able to help municipalities contact other municipalities which have similar problems so they can work together on developing solutions.

For specific programs, information, educational or training material may be available directly from the OFM or municipalities may be referred to other organizations such as NFPA.
