Lieutenant Governor Presents Medals For Bravery
In November 2012, three firefighters and 10 police officers received Ontario's top honours for acts of exceptional bravery. The Ontario Medal for Firefighter Bravery and the Ontario Medal for Police Bravery are the province's highest honours in recognition of firefighters and police officers whose actions demonstrate outstanding courage.
The recipients of the Ontario Medal for Firefighter Bravery are:
- Firefighter Bryan Gibbons of the Meaford and District Fire Department
- Firefighter Jason Ronfeld of the Whitby Fire and Emergency Services
- Firefighter John Sotiriou of the Whitby Fire and Emergency Services
"Ontario’s police officers and firefighters perform acts of bravery every day. The recipients of this year’s medals have stared right into the face of danger so that lives could be saved and tragedy averted. They should wear their medals with pride," said Madeleine Meilleur, Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services
