The Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council (FMPFSC) and the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) have launched a new campaign entitled Keeping Our Kids Safe. The campaign encourages Ontario families to develop and practice a home fire escape plan. Families can participate during Fire Prevention Week or any time during the month of October by visiting www.twowaysout.ca to enter and print off a “Have Two Ways Out” certificate. Each household entry will be included in a draw for prizes. Please note www.twowaysout.ca is in English only (with a section in French).
Fire departments can help promote the campaign by contacting their local elementary schools and encouraging teachers to use complementary lesson plans distributed by Scholastic Canada to 73,000 elementary classroom teachers earlier this month. To view and download additional copies of the Teaching Tool Resources developed by the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council, visit www.twowaysout.ca.
