Inquest Hearing Scheduled Into The Death Of Reggie Bushie Announced


Thunder Bay — Dr. Michael Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Thunder Bay office, today announced that the inquest into the death of Reggie Bushie will resume with a pre-inquest hearing on May 15, 2012. The date of the inquest will be set following the hearing.

The body of Reggie Bushie, age 15, was recovered from the McIntyre River in Thunder Bay November 1, 2007. He had last been seen alive at the riverside on Oct 26, 2007.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Reggie Bushie’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The hearing is expected to last 3 days. The purpose of the hearing is to inquire into the appropriate representation of the new jury roll in the District of Thunder Bay for the purposes of the inquest.

The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the main floor auditorium at the Government Building, 189 Red River Road, Thunder Bay. Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Operations will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Derry Millar will be counsel to the Coroner.
